Passive story with nothing happening.

I wonder if this is the way the narrator always narrates? This particular style of narration makes the MC, Michelle, sound confused, sorta ditzy and full of anxiety.

Books 1&2 are on sale, but mixed reviews. Luckily, this one was available at my library! One friend said that 1 book was split in 2 for publication. If I like this one, I'll buy the books that are on sale. Let's see how it goes!

Intro of main cast & side characters--a lopsided and awkward segments.

Went to look in ebook to read over a bit I heard on audiobook and rolled my eyes when I saw the parenthesis plopped into a sentence.

Bought the audio on sale. Amused that the female narrator is less grating when she does fake male voices and inflections. **speeds up audio to 3.5x**

Let's see how far I can get with this audiobook. One of my pet peeves for narration are narrators that have a lisp, stress the s or breath & talk in a manner that causes that super annoying ssssssssssss sound. All 3 are happening in this audiobook. Bleah

Interesting & feel good intro. Waiting for the spooks to show. 🧐

Daniel is a crappy friend. For a while, plot events had me thinking maybe it was eschewed POV for yanking reader response. Buy current point in story has me thinking Daniel is just a selfish jock. 🥸☠️🥸

Daniel does too many dumb things. Almost TSTL and he's the 'Hero'. 🤣 Story progression is ok, but lots of weird blinders that come across as OOC. Basically, not clever setups for backstab delights.

Is Charlie today's type of 27? Being 27 wasn't that far back for me and I have a hard time believing that Charlie is 27. More like 18-20.

She was the exact same Charlie Hall she'd always been. Messy. Impulsive. Alone.

The out of character actions are bugging me. 💩🙄💩🤸‍♀️

Hmm these are not good as standalones. Thus far, loose summaries. Not even sure I could recommend this as an add on for refreshers.
