This book has been very thought-provoking.

“If you are completing care tasks from a motivation of shame, you are probably also relaxing in shame too-because care tasks never end and you view rest as a reward for good boys and girls. So if you ever actually let yourself sit down and rest, you're thinking, "! don't deserve to do this. There is more to do."

“Meaning hides in repetition.” Love that, definitely a good reminder for me to re-examine the routines and rhythms of our home and remind myself why we do them and why they matter.

This book is fascinating. Between 2013 and 2015, 10.4% of American children were diagnosed with ADHD. Dr. Payne conducted a study with a goal of drastically simplifying the life of participating ADD/ADHD children and found that 68% of them went from dysfunctional to functional in four months. Many are concerned about children being over-medicated, but to slow your life down is hard work most are unwilling to try.

This book is just alright, but I think I’ll finish it by skimming the remaining chapters to see if there’s anything useful or inspirational to me as I try to reduce clutter and excess in our home.

This is a pretty dry, dense read but I still want to finish it eventually.

I’m loving this read, but at the same time it feels pretty long. I’m barely over halfway through but feel as though I should be close to the end. I’m interested to see how I feel about it when I’m finished.
