Not one, but TWO Moms in Space in this book! Slower than I remember the other two White Space books being, but still holding my interest.

I never expected to laugh this much! I'm especially loving Margaret's colorful Shakespeare- like insults! "He is a pizzle-headed doorknob!" 🤣

What a fantastic opening chapter! There's been a lot of hype so I'm scared to get too excited, but so far it's living up to the hype.

I'm having such a hard time with the style of this book. Cheers to the author for trying something different, but it's not working for me. I just do not believe that the MC needs to explain everything to her sister - she is clearly talking to me.

This one is not grabbing me. I don't like the sisters or the atmosphere. The writing isn't bad. I just set it down for a couple of days and when I picked my Kindle back up, I was surprised to see it in my Library. I had 100% forgotten I was reading this.

This book is pretty incredible so far - exciting with some original twists! I didn't see Alix Harrow's comparison to The Locked Tomb AND the Vorkosigan Saga until more than halfway, but I did see Tamsyn Muir's blurb on the cover right off the bat. I might wait until the end to make any sweeping claims, but yeah - I can see how fans of both series would like this one.

I'm having trouble maintaining my interest in this one. It's been at least a month since I picked it up.
I may look at the MMD book club forums to see if there's a reason for me to keep reading, but otherwise I suspect this will remain abandoned.

I was reading about one chapter a day (and they're short) until about the 50% mark. Then took several days off. I shouldn't have - there are too many characters to keep straight! But around that 50% mark things really started to get interesting. I have no idea where the plot is going, no idea who to root for, and I love it! It feels a bit like a mystery.

My hold finally came in. Book club is in 3 days, so it's unlikely I will finish in time, but I'm a bit intrigued. Hoping the horror aspects don't give me nightmares.

Astonishingly, this hold came in about a week after placing it on hold, and not even in my home library system! I got the Audiobook with Julia Whelan narrating. I guess not many people in Denver like audiobooks? It's my first time using Libby to consume an audiobook since my home library system only uses Libby for ebooks.

One story left! Book club was only two weeks ago on this one. 😔

Giving in to the hype. Ok, so it's Hunger Games on Mars? Right, cool, cool.
The audiobook has very strange long pauses in the beginning chapters, but otherwise I like the narrator.

Really hoping to finish tomorrow so I can start Brandon Sanderson's Secret Project #1 on 1/1/23!

I'm not really actively reading this. But I own it! And I do want to read it! It was just beginning to feel like a project, and I don't have time for any more projects right now.

This is an incredible listening experience. The prose is incredibly poetic, the content relatable, and I love hearing the narrator speak Gaelic and English with her Irish accent.

My kids finished this with my mom and loved it. I admit to reading other things in the same room and only keeping half an ear open. I liked what I heard though.

Now listening to the last story, The Sins of Our Fathers.

This book is fascinating! And also I keep thinking Nell is taking huge risks and I am constantly worried about her.

I'm having to DNF this one. It's spooling up my own anxiety past what I can handle. I mean, the whole book is about how bad things can happen in and instant, and there's no way to bomb-proof your life. While this is true, I don't need to dwell on that right now.

Part 1 was intriguing. Part 2 should be interesting - it seems Vincent from The Glass Hotel is making an appearance?

Narrator Emily Ellett lives in my neighborhood (we've never met) and said in our neighborhood Moms Group on FB that this was one of the best parenting books she had ever read. So far it's not new info but explained a bit differently than I've heard before. And the narration is good too :)

I had never heard of Clare Bowditch before picking up this book in an Audible sale. I'm not even through the first chapter yet, but was laughing out loud in the car at her singing all of her thoughts for an entire year while little, including things like "I'm the baby of the family, you can't touch me" to her sisters, who just wanted her to stop singing. Her imitation of the priest singing also cracked me up.

I'm reading this one very slowly, but have had houseguests and illness and anyway it's just so good, I don't mind stretching things out. I love the relationship between Tookie and Pollux

Possibly the most bananas-crazy first chapter I have ever read, but I mean that in a good way. Ms. Erdrich certainly has my attention. It's like a mashup of Orange is the New Black and Gideon the Ninth - two books that I previously thought had no intersection.

WHY are there so many viewpoint characters?!?! I'm going to have a hard time with this one if the authors keep it up.

I'm having a hard time getting into this one. Now is probably not the right time. April is just the craziest month for our family.

I'm through The Vital Abyss as of 4/2/22. Will read more stories as I complete the novels. Babylon's Ashes is up next! Going to file this as Abandoned for now and move it back to Currently Reading when I pick it up again. So far I am enjoying the stories, although Gods of Risk was hard to read. It was hard to be in the headspace of a naive, horny teenage boy. At least his Aunt Bobbie was there to kick some ass.
