Enjoying Calibur. Cool seeing Sinon here after just finishing my rewatch of the GGO arc of the anime. Not a fan of Klein, but someone has to play the MC's goofy sidekick and he fills that role.

Finished the Safe Haven Murder Mystery with a marathon reading and... what a let down. The reveal was underwhelming and talked to death robbing it of satisfactory closure. The characterization of Asuna is also very different, like she hates men and rebuffs with rage Kirito's flirtations. Then there's Kirito calling her The Flash more than she ever was in vols 1 and 2. Onward to the Calibur and The First Day stories.

Loving how Narita is bringing all the characters on stage and weaving them together. Hopeful for a Mikado and Anri class rep romance! But who's the Frankenstein chick sleeping on Mikado's floor?

Weird suicide pact and drugging of two girls by Izaya, who stuffs them into suitcases and then hauled away and deposited safely on a park bench by Celty. Yikes, this sure ain't SAO. But it appears Izaya did all that to save them from suicide. Not sure yet if he's a good guy or a baddie. Certainly an intriguing character...

Lots here not in the one-episode anime adaptation. Heathcliff's holding court in the dive ramen joint was cool, knowing what we know now. Annoying is Kirito constantly referring to Asuna as "The Flash," a nickname that thankfully fell by the wayside.

Kirito and Asuna play detective to solve the murder of Kaine in a safe zone. This was in the anime, but I can't remember how it resolved...

Intro Izaya Orihara, the character Misoume warned us not to mess with. Lots of characters coming on the stage in these early chapters, I like how we're meeting everybody and discovering the Ikebukuro district along with nominal protagonist Mikado.

Ouch! Perry "caves in" the face of a hulking PI with one mighty punch.

Wow, story really revs up in this second half of the book. Yui is the breakout star, even if Recon steps up. The Cat Sith/Sylph team-up with dragons of all things was definitely written with the anime in mind.

Thoughtful essay by Beni Johnson on joy and restricting troubles and burdens to intercessory prayer time. Bethel has more depth than the antis on YT would have Christians believe.

Intriguing start with an unsettling murder. Yes, of course the victim is the Shadow Rider! What's this craziness with corpses in a van? A supernatural horror, mystery, and new kid in town story. Heavy on slang--loosely adapted from the original--but it's working. Gary is leaving the chat...

Bill Johnson contends Satan sent the windstorm against Jesus that he called out to "be still!" Can Satan control the weather?

Chapter with Spyridon and his son meeting the exiled Ukrainian priest Fr Macarius was the first disappointing chapter of the book. Too long and too political for me.
