this is not what i expected but it is very good

a lot of people have been saying that this is too long but i really like the pacing tbh. it’s not a constantly exciting story but i don’t think it’s supposed to be? like this is a spectacular exploration of the hell of high brow academia and explorations are inherently shifting and internal. tldr i’m really loving this!

i feel like i could write a dissertation on the religious symbolism in this novel and i’m eating it up frankly

reading this while actively sick is so relaxing and soothing not scary at all

ugh i love the specific genre of literature that explores the moral degradation of christian missionary work and how it really is a method of masculine assurance of self and power to the detriment of everyone else. genuinely one of my favorite genres this is spectacular
