Molly Moblo Perusse is on page 303 of 408 of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants
This book is a slow, loving look at the original successful celebratory indigenous ways of living respectfully with our Earth Mother. It makes me want to plant sweetgrass just to experience the smell the author describes.

What a brilliant read so far. How two "scientific" minded parents learn to deal with a life turned topsy turvy by a down's syndrome child, and how they were opened up to more of the mysticism of life. Excellent writing, very smart.

Great quote on page 27: "Lucien's parents did this sometimes- talked through him as if her were a hollow tube simply muting the harsh tone and timbre of their words. He had learned that at these times, it was best to stare at a distant and neutral spot on the wall and resist the urge to appear attentive until one of them formulated an exit line sufficiently droll to dismiss the whole exchange

One of the most intriguing, smooth writers I have ever read. Her books grab you from the start. She makes you feel as though you are walking amongst the walking dead and how very tragic and hopeless it would be.

A wonderful, heartbreaking story of the death of a child and the family's processing of it.
