bl and mel is making me do this... actually without a gun to my head... should i be worried

i’m glued to my seat… i can’t stop reading but i would be hard pressed to tell you exactly why

I’m trying out this thing where I go to the fiction shelves in the national library in person and pick out a random book from an author according to each letter of the alphabet. This is what I ended up with for A. I enjoyed Bunny so I was excited for this, but five chapters in and I am NOT feeling this book. Sadly my first DNF of 2026. Maybe I’ll give her another try in the near future…

Wait I really want to read this book (anthology of book column/reviews) but I realised I'm not really getting into it as much as I thought because I haven't read... the books she's talking about...

i'm not even remotely close to being done but THIS BOOK is kinda weird! i guess i gotta keep going now i'm too curious to dnf it

Finished the part 1 just in time for the movie to come out here -- the beginning was so confusing to me at first that I had to cheat a little to properly map all the characters and political relationships. Afterwards, though, things gained clarity and picked up pace, and I'm swept away by the story right now. Really interesting to see the many many Arabic influences here, though. So this book's a metaphor for the ME?
