I think I've figured out what Derrick is...a dolphin. His eating habits, enhanced hearing and sense of smell, plus he likes "humans". Lol. j/k Great first chapter that really pulled me in. But now starting to slow down. Waiting for plot and antagonist to reveal themselves.

Exciting opening chapter.

Writing needs tightening up. Run-on sentences and awkward sentence structure. It's making it hard to read.
