why do authors feel the need to make up locations within real cities? so distracting to have a thai restaurant described in elaborate detail when i know it doesn’t exist! why not just call it “the thai restaurant” or something vague that doesn’t alienate people who know about the area you’re writing about. maybe i’m overthinking i just find it irritating
