It’s just a little bit too flat for me, I’m having to force myself to read it. Seeing as it comprises a few different short stories, I might read the remainder as palette cleansers in between future reads.

Really struggling to get into this still. I get that it’s meant to be heartwarming but I just have no strong feelings whatsoever and zero emotional connection or desire. Quite close to not finishing it tbh but I hate giving up on books! Perhaps I should stick to my trusted genres

I can’t decide if I love or hate the unreliable protagonist… it means it could literally go any way, and there’s so many characters it’s going to be impossible to piece together, but she’s also a bit annoying and whiney

Easy reader, very intriguing! The protagonist was a bit annoying at first, but she’s growing on me

It’s picked up about 3/4 way through, this last stretch is much more of a page turner. I haven’t felt very emotionally connected to any of the characters.

Struggling to get through this if I’m honest. It’s a good book, but it’s not reeling me in with that ‘omg I need to know what happens next’ feeling. Feels like a very average 3 star read at the moment. Hoping it ramps up.

Intriguing storyline. Short, sharp chapters with multiple timelines and multiple perspectives = my type of book!

Been feeling quite low so struggling with motivation to pick up a book and read, even though I know it will mentally do me good. Sacked off the other author I originally picked up as they tend to be a slower read. Hoping the want to read this before I watch the TV series might help encourage me along.

Feel like I need a slower read after steaming through quite a few books so far this month. Really enjoyed one of this author’s books before, already seeing a lot of similarities in the first couple of chapters - she’s obviously a fan of remote islands, different perspectives and lots of characters!

It was going SO well until a new little plot line has been put in and I’m annoyed because it just feels like it might now all turn very immature? I hope not. Let’s see where it goes.

Watched the first episode of ‘girl taken’ and then realised when the credits came up that I had the book sat in storage upstairs so thought I’d best read it before I watch anymore! Very easy to read - short chapters, different perspectives and very addictive. I’m a bit weird and love a kidnapping, so the plot is right up my street.

So I’ve just got to the big secret reveal and to be fair, I didn’t see it coming. In hindsight, it was fairly obvious, so I’m not sure why I didn’t! There’s been a few really annoying chunks where you’re just like… why are these characters all so stupid? But I like the cheeeeeeesey romance! I love love!

Very easy page turner. Love the plot. Characters are beginning to get a little annoying and there’s a bit of over explaining/repetitiveness… but that’s Colleen Hoover for you. Overall the whole plot is becoming quite a good head vs heart analogy.

Needed an easy read palette cleanser after my last couple of reads. Forget how much of a guilty pleasure Colleen Hoover is!

The abuse was definitely more severe than I recall! I can understand why there are reports of the author being an unreliable narrator - I too have noticed inconsistencies - however this would seem in keeping of childhood memories and the fickle nature of a child, let alone one whom has suffered such trauma.

I read this as a teenager, but wanted to read it as an adult. It’s strangely nostalgic for me; triggering almost not for the shock value of the abuse he suffered, but for how I felt when I read this the first time.

Have been forgetting to update! It’s such an easy read. VERY addictive. There is a big piece of missing information that is constantly hinted at and I’m excited to find out what it is. Atm this is a solid 4 star read for me.

Ah I love it! I went into this totally blind and I’m so glad I did. I’m absolutely loving the character development of Monique (but the why her? is killing me) and I can just tell she’s probably got a long way to go yet. Evelyn Hugo’s character is a very interesting one, I feel like she’s got a lot more emotional depth yet to be discovered. I go from hating her to loving her and back all in the same page.

This has been such a slog! I was so excited to see this at the book swap as it’s been highly rated on BookTok but I just can’t possibly believe the hype. Admittedly it has started to pick up now the trial has actually begun, but despite the intriguing plot idea it’s just executed so poorly. Not a fan but I need to see it through now.

Really enjoying this. Very well written. I wish there was a little bit more from the younger years of her life but I guess there’s only so much we can remember from our early years! If you’ve ever experienced any kind of emotional abuse from a parent then this is a very triggering read, but strangely comforting to know you’re not alone in your experiences.

Verrrry different writing style to what I’m used to. Wouldn’t be what I’d usually pick up but I’ve heard really good things and the premise is intriguing.

Very well written. Short, easy to read chapters, each chapter so far taking us through a memory / important part of her early years. Already a very inspiring read albeit very triggering - our early years share many unfortunate similarities and emotional abuse.

I need to do an update because wtf is chapter 38 😂 this book was going SO well. Like really, really strong. Then chapter 38 comes along and you’re trying to tell me that this character that’s an actual published novelist has absolutely zero recollection of a plot point in her very own book that she physically wrote? I mean come on! This is ridiculous 😂

Such an easy page turner. Short sharp chapters flitting between past and present to slowly paint a picture of what happened on ‘the night she disappeared’. I just love how this author always builds such twisty characters that all intertwine.
