I am surprised that this book which started as a bit of fun trash, gradually develops into a more substantial creation, with interesting character development and the female lead grows gradually from her weak beginnings into a strong leader.

This one kept sending me to sleep so I sent it back to the library. On the must complete one day list.

Maybe I'd fund it better to read myself or read by someone else who puts some inflection into their voice.

With a different reader this book is more interesting.
I've had to put it on hold because I have a large other book to get through in just a month

I decided to give this book another go after the initial attempt with a truly awful audio book.

I am actually surprised to find it not as bad as I had expected.

The author still can't tell a story in a chronological order which is getting old very quickly. However the book is compelling and the anti hero is complex. I keep forgetting he is the bad guy as the author manages to get me to sympathise with the young King. And then he bumps you back down to Earth suddenly.

I see this book has 4 stars, it may just be because I have the audio book version, and the actor reading just can't put any tone into his voice as he reads narrative. It literally sends me to sleep in minuets.

I found the first storey in the series a lot of fun, this book wasn't as much fun. OK I am really not the target audience so my opinion probably doesn't count.

Umm this one has gone back to the library and I've moved on. I guess I'll come back to it later.

I am enjoying this book, so far it hasn't gripped me as much as book1. However I still think it's worth a read

I can't believe that I am still only half way through this. I have just completed a really long boring section, I was so close to giving up, but then there was an interesting bit thrown in. I can't see me finishing this book before it is due back at the library again

That's it, I'm hooked. This world is so different and so believably described.

I'm finding it hard to believe that I am not yet half way through this book. it feels like its neat the end. the plot has been so slow recently that it is very hard to spot inbetween the ramblings. I'm going to persevere though, history has told me that this book has very good bits.

I made it to the end. I will read the next book in the series but I'm not rushing.

I enjoyed this book, yes it is a children's book, but it is a light, delighful, undemanding action adventure, providing pure escapism. Sometimes that really is the best kind of book to read.

I am still finding this book difficult. The overall story is interesting and unpredictable but it takes the author a long time to say it. The prose are excessively wordy and repetitive. The characters are all complex to the extent that so many people, all being so complex is unbelievable. However it is interesting to see the interplay of conflicting ambitions.

I am really enjoying this book. This is the type of childrens book which is also enjoyable to adults. Lightweight and fun.

I read the other books In the series to my children as bed time stories when they were younger. They read this one for themselves so I am reading anyway.

The story is fast paced and interesting. There are new characters but there are also familiar characters from the past too.

Well I've got this book back from the library, the previous person didn't have it long! I want to read it but it's heavy going and I've felt too tired recently. Also I'm reading another difficult book at the moment. I like to have one light and one difficult only at a time.

I'm getting quite into this book now. The story it's interesting, but I can tell it was written in the seventies hippie era. The drug scenes are long and tedious and appears to be written by someone who enjoyed a drug induced trip or to and feels compelled to try to recreate them in writing, in minutiae, for their readers, loosely ascribing them to their characters. .

unfortunately this book has gone back to the library and there is a wait list so it like probably be a couple of months until I get it back again.

I'm starting to get into this book now. I'm glad I persevered and am looking forward to seeing how the plots within plots all pan out in the end.

I loved book one, book 2 I found a bit boring but let me know what happened after. I'm a quarter of the way through book 3 and literally nothing has happened yet.
