Joseph MacGregor is finished with The Face Of Battle: A Study Of Agincourt, Waterloo And The Somme
Author swallowed a thesaurus and spent 2 full very long chapters justifying why they can write the book by repeating the same point worded slightly differently over and over.. after that it gets a bit more interesting though.

Strange one, seems like the type of book I'd like, very informative, nice little relatively uncommonly known facts sprinkled in but.. it just didn't grab me, shame because it is good at what it is trying to do, I think the 'jokey' humour of it didn't land for me most of the time and I found it distracting

Really interesting, history has such amazing stories that as a bit of a history nerd even I still haven't came across. Bravery, pride, determination and wits being put together for survival and defiance against a much larger threat and the doom of the Order and Maltese people.

Book has devolved into a revolving door of characters coming in for a short story.. I understand it is because they're the characters he has met in prison but the stories seem pointless and nonsensical as they either end extremely abruptly and he is suddenly talking about something else or the short stories that are completed have no impact as he is rushing to the next weird encounter. Weird pacing. Lacking structure

Never heard an author talk down on themselves and at the same time speak so highly of themselves and how they're the strongest person physically ever and blah blah.. very embellished 'true story' but.. entertaining when he isn't waffling about unnecessary nonsense for chunks of the book.

Quite torn, strong first and final third, middle third of the book was losing me a bit. Debating on 3 or 4 stars, probably going to give it a 4 because there's no 3 and a half star rating.
