Slow plot and waffley writing. Main character is annoyingly lacking in self-confidence and it's being lazily explained by allusions to trauma both in childhood and on-the-job as an adult.

Enjoying this book so far. Even more than the Thursday Murder Club series. Have laughed out loud a few times at the characters' being so very "British droll/stiff upper lip".
