Haha wait I’m instantly obsessed with this book

I read through the incendiary quote that has all of kidlit losing their minds on the internet (truly didn’t think this level of simultaneous moral outrage was still possible in a post-Twitter internet, but here we are) and what I think is that everybody needs to calm the fuck down.

There, that’s my whole insight on this hullabaloo. More to come though, probably 😈

Heartbreaking and so so good.

This story is B A N A N A S and I am eating it upppp. Patrick Radden Keefe is cooking with this one.

I am immediately obsessed with this book. It has everything I look for in a juicy narrative nonfiction: a ripped from the headlines story (which I remember seeing in the headlines & wondering about years ago), an enigmatic tragic hero whose secrets the author seeks to unravel to get at the hidden heart of him; British class dynamics and culture intertwined with…Russian oligarchs? I am eating it UP.

This is definitely one of those books that’s 5 stars as an audiobook but would prob be 4 stars for me if I’d read it with my eyeballs. The audio is slaying.

As good as everyone says it is on audio. Stratt is mother, as the kids say.

All of the science in this book is going over my head completely, but the story and the humor are great, very entertaining. The audio is definitely the way to go with this book, it just sucks that’s it’s only available through Audible (thanks for giving me so many free trials Audible?)

This book keeps getting better and better….early contender for my favorite book of 2026?!

I’m so elated to be finishing the year on a book that is SO GOOD after the slumpiest reading year in recent memory.
