Concerned by the A Noun of Noun and Noun title and the Depeche Mode and NIN quotes used in the opening, but I like the narrator, so I'm giving it a shot.

This one is already exactly as heart-wrenching as I expected, I needed to put it down after a few chapters and take a break. Hopefully, I can finish it in time since it's a library loan.

I added this to my TBR after hearing a lot of recommendations, only to add it to my GR list and immediately see it's just reskinned HP fanfic. I'm so torn on just returning it now. As a trans person, I don't want to intentionally touch anything even tangentially tied to HP anymore, it makes me sick. But I'm also curious why so many people were raving about it...

I want to like this so much more than I actually am so far. I don't think they picked the right audiobook narrator for this.

I'd bet money this is a reskinned AU Astarion x Tav fanfic and I love that about it

The biggest downside to getting books through Libby is when life gets in the way of finishing an in-demand book in time. Stayed up til 4am on a work night trying to finish the audiobook and just can't make it any further. 4 month wait time for the audiobook. I guess I won't find out how it ends until the sequel comes out, but it was fantastic while it lasted.

This is gonna end up being DNFed I just know it. I'm really really struggling. There's nothing actually wrong with it I think it's just not for me, and I'm disappointed about that bc I was very excited for the premise

Rating of the first story in the anthology: 1/5. I'm glad it was short bc I didn't like any aspect of this one, including the narrators. I'm nervous that this was what they chose to open the anthology with, but still willing to give the next story a chance.

So far, one of these VAs is phenomenal, but the other reads like AI. I have no idea who either are bc it just says "full cast." The risk with a full cast audiobook is that one poor VA can bring the whole ab down. One of my biggest pet peeves has become bad ab narrators, seemingly most common when a narrator is hired to match a demographic of the character they narrate, rather than based on their skill as a narrator.

Fighting myself not to DNF in Chapter 1 after being so excited for this one. Saeldian looks like a really cool fantasy name in print, but in audio, when you find it's pronounced "Shelldian," I keep imagining a snail person or something. Marcel the Shell. I can't take it seriously.

Ugghhh I didn't realize this was narrated by Vico Ortiz before I started it. I'm begging people to please find another nonbinary audiobook narrator. After like 6 books, I'm sick of their voice atp.
