I hope to get as good in Japanese as Janice is in Latin but hopefully quicker.

This is a re-read.
This is the first book of the literature clubs 2026 reading schedule starting in January.
I’m so excited to be reading this again, much slower and fully annotated this time.
I’ll read one chapter a day for 102 days so I’ll be finished by March 13, a week before I finish Les Miserables which I also started today at 12 pages a day scheduled.

I’ve finished this book.
6 stars. A book for readers who have read a lot of great books as he author names these books. A book for readers who have not read a lot of books as the author names books one should read.

Ended up choosing this for the final Goodreads challenge book because it is so highly rated, seems very interesting, and available at the library. Unfortunately the only way to get it from the library was from the speed reads section; not from the two weeks loan shelf but from the 1 week loan shelf which is 35 pages per day. I won’t tag it finished until December 4th or 5th for the challenge.

Re-read number 3

I’ve finished this book now but won’t post it finished until after the 15th.

Book club book for November. Looks like a 2 week read prior to Bleak House. I will slow read with notes and quotes. A Jane Austen love story. Completely forgettable when I last read it possibly due to me just powering through it as an audiobook on 1.25 speed. I’ll do a proper read as many say this is her finest work, better than Pride and Prejudice. I must keep an open mind about this “Chick Lit”!
