maybe i am reading too much into this, but i find it interesting because i don't think sophie is evil, I think she's just not good enough based on many plot points like she failed Tedros in the Trial, because she puts her own survival over his. This does not mean she's evil, it just means that she's not that good. Which is why I do get confused about the direction where this book is trying to head into.

feels like a 4 stars book right now, unfortunately. too much conversation sometimes. a little bit triggering as the issues in this fantasy book are the issues in the real world. i wouldn't mind any of that if the story were as good as the sword of kaigen. but it is not. it is predictable, there is too much romance, and honestly the characters are not that likable. hopefully the last 18% can change my mind.

Danny it I was right. Oh come on.

I have a theory that the sourcing is the blight itself. I really hope my theory is not right or I would be very disappointed.

So far the weakest of Sanderson's books. Characters lack motivation, specifically Lightsong who I simply do not understand why he acts the way he does. Characters who enshroud in mysteries like Vashar and Denth, are hard to root for or care about. Most infuriatingly, I do not care about the main characters, namely the two sisters. I am waiting for the Sanderlanche, but honestly so far I do not like this book.

Very easy to read. Like it more than mistborn. Story is great.

Some parts good some parts boring. A lot of filler content. I guess if the story is all about Nora and Charlie, it would be way too short.

60 pages in and I am not impressed. There’s a lot of stuff I don’t really care about like the backstory of her mother. I’ll call it a night and get to page 100 tomorrow and if the pacing is still so slow I will dnf.

Might need to take a break. I don’t like where the story is headed.

I am at page 120 but it felt longer, I don’t even know in a good way or bad way. But I am definitely losing interest in the part 2. The rest of the 300 pages better be mind blowingly good because I am getting tired.

notice myself losing some interest as the book leans into romance territory because I just don't buy the chemistry between MCs, yet. also the urgency from the beginning of the book seems to have dissipated a bit.

Based on the reviews, this book seems to be disappointing. However so far I am very much enjoying it.

Started this book last year and I got bored around 10%ish. Picked up again on the train today, but now I don't know if that was a good idea. Let's just say I have a theory about which direction the plot is heading, and I am TERRIFIED. I had to force myself to close the book because it's making my depression worse, and I need to find something stupid and lighthearted to read ASAP.

Quite disappointed in this book so far. Great premise I had high hope to be honest. But a few things just get more and more annoying. First Piper - this is Mary Sue style character? I don’t get the mist part. So she thought she loved Jason so she’s loving Jason? She has no basic critical thinking skills and basically just whines 95% of the time. The new goat guy is probably the most annoying character ever as well.

holy crap I cannot believe it, the third book is so much better, 15% in and I got nothing to complain about

the story is getting slightly more interesting in part three, my rating now has gone up to 3/5.

trying really hard not to abandon this book, i've never dnf a book after 20% before, but wow this book is so full of nothing, the words are beautiful yet so empty. i might have to get an audiobook and 2x speed through the book while I do my chores. what a huge let down. the premise was so creative and promising. but now i am trying my best not to read last chapter and call it a day. early rating - 2 stars right now.

never mind, I called too early, it totally didn't take the direction I thought it would take, and the book now actually took a very weird turn, so now I don't know what the hell i am reading.

Chapters are short and intriguing.

It was... fine... i don't like how slow the pacing becomes... if next chapter is as slow as this one, as whining as this one, as needlessly sensitive as this one, idk if i'll keep reading it.

It has been a strangely disturbing read so far. It’s a love hate mixed read certainly. For example I love octavo’s intelligence in chapter one but hated his cowardice in chapter two. Uri seems annoying initially but I grew to like him a lot. I simply hate Silvia tho. But for some reason she is also portrayed as the hero in chapter two? I don’t get it - bamboo is evil, right?
I told you this book is nuts.
