Juxtaposing the World's Fair hosted by Chicago and a psychotic mass murderer just didn't work for me. The chapters of the Fair's construction drug like an anchor on an otherwise fast moving book. I've read a couple of Larson's books now and cannot claim to be a fan. while his subjects are interesting, and his research is extensive; his writing is verbose, and his books are tedious.
