I wasn’t a fan of the writing from the very first chapter but kept reading. I’m now 10% into the book and am not sure if I’ll finish it. Too many names/characters m. Too many nicknames for the same characters - why?! The banter is childish.

I’m struggling to read / finish this book. It may be a DNF as m I’m no longer seeing a point now that I’m over 50% done and I’m just not enjoying it. There are times the main character, September, is so focused on herself and her pain, that I feel she is insensitive to others, despite her efforts to track her daily kindness. Clearly I’m in the minority so I’ll trudge through in hopes it improves for me.

It’s hard to take this book seriously when one of the main character is being perused by a Nazi SS officer and she has time to wonder if a Jew she’s trying to protect is pregnant. Really, at this very moment you have time to think about something other than escaping AND the other woman happens to be a minder? “I shoot her a look. Are you…? She nods.” Give me a break. So unrealistic.
