NO WONDER I love this so much. It’s by the author of The Assimilated Cuban’s Guide to Quantum Santeria. AKA one of my most favorite books. (How did I not realize this earlier!?)

This is incredibly delightful and I’m disappointed in myself for not listening to it earlier.

2019 is my year of reading the super-popular YA novels of the past decade that I skipped over. Well, I'm reading this one and I read Cinder in July. Who's next? Leigh Bardugo? Sarah J Maas?

I wasn’t so sure about this one for the first 100 pages, but it’s finally picking up and I’m definitely liking it.

Pretty sure that I've know the who-done-it and why they did it since around the 50% mark. This would have made a better novella, I feel like there's a lot of unnecessary padding.

These books are just a pure joy to read and still my favorite magical-system ever. Etymology and linguistics ARE magic.

I'm SO HAPPY they got Briggon Snow back to voice Caleb, but I'm pretty sad that Julia Morizawa isn't voicing Dr. Bright (I know that audiobooks are different than podcasts... but still).

Skipping over The Lifecycle of Software Objects, cause I read it a few years back, and dang do a lot of other folks have holds on this book.

Gah. How can Ted Chiang be this good?? He made me love a time travel story and I usually hate time travel stories.

Not sure I’m going to make it through this audiobook. 2/3 of the narrators are OUTSTANDING unfortunately the other 1/3 is ruining it for me.

Omg. This discussion about the history of fonts as they relate to printed materials used by political parties in Berlin from WWII to the present is everything I’ve ever wanted out of a book.

I swear, Chmakova draws the best facial expressions in the biz.

Welp, I’m enjoying this alright so far but there is WAY LESS Jane Eyre than I anticipated. Subsequently, I’m over halfway done with Jane Eyre as well and I’m not really liking it any more than I did when I was 12.

Reading this in tandem with Jane Eyre in hopes that it will make me like it more than when I read it in middle school.

Holy poop this is terrifying. Scariest YA horror I’ve ever come across.

Between this and Kotlowitz’s There Are No Children Here I’m realizing that I really want to read a similar treatment of Pruitt-Igoe’s history.

Welp, that’s my favorite explanation of wormholes I’ve ever heard: chubbily adorable multidimensional space pandas that fell asleep with their mouths open who consume regret.

I never realized how much I wanted to hear a story from aunt Beru’s POV. “I may be a country girl who’s never been offplanet, but even I’m aware that when a Jedi walks up to you and says, “Here, have a baby,” it’s not going to end well.”

Oh boy. Ken Liu’s story about a middle manager on Vader’s star destroyer getting his friend out of trouble via filing a bunch of extraneous paperwork was EXCELLENT.

I don’t know enough about Matheson to know whether or not it was his authorial intent, but Robert Neville is by far the most terrifying thing in this book.
