Rating based on my opinion of the book’s place in the new atheist literature. Much more challenging than others I have read - Dawkins has nothing on this. It badly needs a detailed rebuttal from a competent Christian apologist who has the time! Barker is in the condescending “Smart Alec” school of athest writers as opposed to the simply arrogant Dawkins and Peter Atkins.

Not as good as I'd hoped. Comes across as a children's Sunday school book. Surely much more could have been said?

Fairly insipid biography but probably because so little is known about the man. A genius and a brilliant pianist with several lady friends but never married. Very sickly and a bit of a snob....

A bit dry but not bad for a basic world history on the cheap.
