Oh, I may have just found my next mystery series! Small town charm, murder, charming and thoughtful detective/inspector - hitting all the right notes!

I'm not reading every single story, but I've enjoyed almost every one I've read so far. (We're up to 1895.)

Not all authors should read their own books. This is a great example.
And this book should've been titled "Vices" because that's all it is. There are stories about gambling, extortion, a strip club, drinking (and driving), sex work, etc. Not at legal thrill in sight.
