Still a cloyingly teenager protagonist, but at least her desires and habits, while obnoxious, have reasonable psychological tracers and origins. The plot's new, too (or, at least, no classic YA love triangle). Alright, White, I'll bite. Looks like I'll finish the book after all.

"Tasers are a one-size-fits-all paranormal butt-kicking option. Mine's pink with rhinestones." Oh, no, I had such high hopes for this book and now...this...

I enjoy the way that art and memory are working in this story. Hopefully that interaction gets a deeper exploration..

Things got a little darker than I was expecting them to right off the bat for this author, but the settings are striking and beautiful, the Celtic mythology a delight to explore. It's nice to find a book that makes you want to write as much as you want to sit still and read it.

If I thought I would make it to the end of the book and still be cognizant for all the things I need to do in the morning, I'd of it, but as-is, I'd only make it far enough to leave a meager 50 pages left, and I'm almost too tired to be angry anymore. Almost. I'm at least down to hating, absolutely loathing only a single character...but ooooh do I want to strangle him with his own trachea...

Angry as I've ever been at Game of Thrones and still reading...Bravo, Marshall. Bravo.

Nope. Nope nopenopenope. Just realized what's going on, why this continent is shaped like a star, and how everyone is more totally and completely fucked than I first thought. This is brilliant, if this is how it's all going down...

As and back to mellowing and simmering and dragging out. I can't tell if this is the discomfort of knowing everyone will (or ought ) to be dead by the end, or just plain too much exposition without enough character development to ease it up even if no big actions happen. But lo! A Maroto chapter. The climax looms, and I'm still seeing a four-story review, in the end...

After a slow and dragging start kept from Game of Thrones facetiousness only by humor and devilry, things are finally picking up and coming together. And, then, the tablet dies. Curse you modern technology and your weakblooded batteries.
