I just realized what's been bugging me about these books. So much of the dialogue is pithy remarks and sarcastic comebacks. Humor is great and the author does sarcasm and humor really well but every zinger you have ever thought of doesn't have to be shoved into one (or, two, so far) books. It takes away some depth from the characters and it's getting annoying.

Got about 150 pages in before I gave up. I've been trying to read this for two months but it was torturous. I finally realized tonight that it just smacks of white male privilege. I feel gross from reading it. The story is laborious and slow as well.

I started listening to this on the drive to work and it's already so great! I can't wait for my drive home to hear more of it!
