Book had a decent first half, but I'm seriously getting close to DNF-ing.

"A paranormal dark rom-com"... I mean, I almost have to read it, don't I. (Please don't suck, pleeeeease don't suck..."

Boy do I wish this book's blurb had indicated a bit more that there would be on-page repeated rape of the heroine before I picked it up... (Not marking that as a spoiler because we find out in Chapter 2 and I would have liked to be warned.)

Sigh. What just happened...?

I dunno... I'm about halfway through the book and I still don't understand why these rich, handsome, young successful men who (this cannot be stressed enough) 100% DID THE THING THEY WENT TO JAIL FOR are so certain that the FMC ratted on them that they feel burning down her house, kidnaping her mother, stealing her money, and forcing her into what seems to be sex slavery is a fair punishment...?

When is this going to pick up...?

First chapter was fun, but how do they not see this next assignment is a trap? I didn't even read the blurb before picking this up (I have now) and I knew it was a trap. This smacks of "because the plot says so".

I am so irritated with Goodreads. I wanted to add a (bad, but still one I spent time reading) to the site and their customer service rep is arguing with me, telling me it has to be purchased (yes, I did), finished (I just listened to it -- it is), and not a fanfic (it isn't, but also, *coughs in Fifty Shades of Grey*). This woman is so condescending, I want to slap her.

Wow, I'd honestly forgotten how much this author "sounds like" Kristen Ashley.

This MMC is fucking selfish. The love of your life was shot and nearly raped/tortured/murdered and you left because you couldn't protect her. I'm not saying he shouldn't grieve or be affected by what happened to her, but way to make her tragedy about you, my dude.

Really kinda wishing I'd stopped before "Part 2" when the author decides to make you unable to respect Sweet.

Not sure if I'll be able to finish this one, but if I do a DNF, it isn't because the book is bad.

Oh dear. Only 5 minutes in and already we have a "snow white owl" who hangs out with the magic users. I know JK Rowling doesn't own magic-user concepts, but maybe let's keep the similarities to a minimum?

Ugh. I was kind of enjoying this one on the re-read -- more than I did the first time anyway. Then the FMC did something that is just TSTL and I'm not sure I can finish now.

What is the timeline on this book? Is this Kellen's first week working at the resort or not?

This is fun but, wow, does it have issues.

Oh my, I think I finally figured out why GR only shows me reviews from, like, four of you. Hopefully those I already comment on won't feel so stalked and those I don't comment on won't feel neglected. (I can annoy everyone with my comments now!)

Gawd, I'd actually managed to forget how bad this narrator's voice is for the male lead.

So far we've had rampant slut-shaming, abortion-shaming, and the MMC reporting that he's "waited long enough" so now it's time to have sex, like it was all just a time game. Now he's drugged her drink.

Yowsa, this is problematic.

This author has been very highly recommended by a lot of my GR friends. I'm glad the book has finally picked up, but this is a terrible start.

10 chapters in and we're finally doing a story that feels like UF, moving outside of sick cats, weird side trips to shrinks that take up entirely too much page time, and stage fright.

Jeez, this book is certainly taking its damn time.

Oh my God, massive sale on Audible. I'm not sure I'll eat, but I have AAAALLLLL the audiobooks now. Any of my audio friends, guard your wallets!

Quick status: So far we've had versions of Gwen Stacy, Jean Grey, and Harley Quinn (do not remember the book aliases except that Jean Grey was Julia Ashe). I enjoyed Gwen's, Jean's was weird, and Harley's was a far more accurate rendition of The Joker than anything DC has been put out in years (the narration for hers got very annoying though, which was probably the point).

Some serious WTF-ery going on here. There's a lot in common with Shadow Lover, a book which I loved. This one is leaving a gross taste thanks to the fact that the poor heroine is having major lurv-jones for the man she genuinely believes is her brother. Really hope that gets cleared up sooner rather than later.

Sheesh, if Hawk believed that was going to work, he is not an intelligent man. I'd really like to start seeing anything likeable about this guy. I think I liked the psychopath hero in Run Posy Run more than Hawk.

I seriously don't like Hawk. Not in a love-to-hate-him kind of way. He's just awful.

This may be a DNF. How is this only a quarter of the way through? How much story can be left here?
