Coming up with reasons for road-trips just so I can listen to more of this amazing book.

Although I’ve read this before I find myself enjoying it as if it’s the first time I’ve read it. Somehow reading it aloud to Fi, reciting how far from civilization and other islands a place is makes it seem more real. Each page sends me on an internet search for more information, sometimes just a picture of the island is enough other times a dive into the story or place.

Picked this up after a long hiatus and finding I’m enjoying it as much as I did when I first picked it up.

Fi and I spent a brisk few chapters outside on the front lawn reading about the islands of the Arctic. Who are these 9 people who call Bear Island home? Forgot what a fun and interesting book this is. Has been years since I dipped into it and am happy that a blog post sent by my cousin about wayfinding sent me in search of it on my shelves. Off to the Atlantic next.

Not sure yet if I’m going to finish this. The author is a 30 something year old man stuck in the glory days of high school. The story of their trip down the Niger is interesting enough but he has to throw in these random pointless stories that shout insecure high schooler screaming for validation about how cool he & his best friend are. And I won’t even go into his objectification/sexualization of women.

Had this on the shelf as well so figured I would continue our time in Northern Africa.
