Putting this in DNF. I've read 1/4 of the book and still no compelling plot tension. 🤷🏼

I was initially interested by the juxtaposition of the main character's disability set in a family and culture at odds with him, but the author is prone to long periods of boring writing. I'm almost 1/5 the way to through, and I still don't know what the main plot point is. If something doesn't start cooking soon, this book is going straight to DNF.

By default, I am not a fan of first person narratives. However, I do make exceptions. So far the setting for this story has been quite intriguing, with the Romanesque government and the magic system offering lots of possibilities. I'm engaged for now, at least.

Finally some signs of life with the plot. Still not loving it but at least it's not deathly boring. Hoping for the slow build with the brilliantly big payoff. 🙏🏼

This book has been a slog to get through to this point. So boring.

Literally the first interesting (plot-wise) thing JUST happened after reading 1/5 of the book. I have been hoping this was a slow build issue, since somehow this book has 4.3 stars on Goodreads.
It must have a phenomenal back half for it to be as boring as it has been.

I was initially intrigued by the story. I thought the prose showed decent skill. And the plot was intriguing.
However, I felt that the author essentially ruined all the plot tension in chapter 3. He'd been building it up, but to me finding out the main character was an all-powerful God who just hadn't learned how to use his skills yet deflated the tension. Essentially it's saying he will succeed. I will likely DNF.

Stuck at this point.

Either I read the earlier books too quickly and got burnt out on the story, or this final book is just not that exciting to me.

It's in danger of joining my DNF list. 👻

I started this one, but I may need to take a break after reading the first 3 in the series straight through. Getting a little burnout in the story. On the other hand, the writing is still just as good so I end up continuing to read 😅

A bit slow, but meaningful information -- so I'm sticking it out for now.

Pretty decent so far. Good characters and pacing. Interesting political tension.

Didn't love the introduction. Enjoying 3/4 of the main characters so far. Looks like a promising story.

I'm stuck at the end of this book without the motivation to keep reading, because the plot has been boring and straightforward. I feel most of the book has been very linear and not very exciting. Low quality plot twists and surprises. Not much character development. Way more battle scenes than needed. Each character has a 2 dimensional vengeance story that lacks nuance. I want to finish it but Idk if it's worth it.
