I love the format of this edition, it’s the perfect presentation for this poetic method and the white out draws you in creating a large rustling silence filled with the bits of words you can almost read from underneath. This accents rather than distracts from the words selected and creates a beautiful loneliness throughout.

This is one of the Diana Wynne Jones books I’ve owned for years without reading. I think this was so I knew I had a couple ‘new’ ones coming still. I finally decided it was time and I’m glad. As always, funny rounded characters in a magical but concrete and real other dimension. She’s one of my favorite storytellers and I was so pleased, in this sad, dark time to go visit for the first time.

This was a fascinating perspective on history that I lived through and remember but from the angle of someone who was able to steer events. It was really interesting to go back over a lot of this stuff from such a different viewpoint.

A really well put together overview of person and a piece of history that I knew almost nothing about.
