Excellent start. Chapter 1 would make a great read aloud.

Excellent so far. This is a multilayered sci-fi story that explores how mythology and storytelling are important in a society. 100% clean so far.

This book is fine. Lizzie is a somewhat whiny narrator.

So good so far. :)

I appreciate how the 1st-person narrative is interrupted with “memos” that add an additional (anonymous) perspective.

Some readers may be bothered by how religious freedom is denied. Specifically, the narrator is surprised to learn of a rumor that a gift of Bibles were turned into toilet paper.

Content warning: SA during medical exam; use of word “shite”

While the language is beautiful, the historical world is bleak.

Lots of implications for education— for example in chapter 6, discussion of making chaos when that is the familiar worldview makes me understand some behavior issues that have seemingly inexplicably arisen.

Also really impressed with data about childhood development.

Some language and sexual dialogue; great story so far with a relatable 12th grade narrator

Definitely a lot of strong language, and some mature themes and situations, but an interesting storyline.

Suitable for a read aloud so far. Mild usages of “ass.”
