It’s OCTOBER! Time to pull out the 5497 horror books that I save to read during the month of October!!

Does anyone else cringe when they read their old reviews??

Someone could have warned him that the exhibits might escape! Like how is this even a possibility? Secure tanks should be a reasonable expectation in a tourist aquarium! Honestly the situation is making him uneasy about those sharks circling the big tank in the middle…

They might have super noses but they cannot swim outside of water!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Ugh. Start off with a dog killing?? WHY.

^^ Example of the dramatic descriptive passages that started to rub me the wrong way when it seemed to happen every few pages.

Reel. That. Shit. In.

Oh and also, there’s a scene in here that’s straight out of ACOTAR. Like very nearly verbatim. When Rowan talks about how he wants to wait to bang Aelin but has to wait because the walls are thin and he’s going to make her moan & everyone else is gonna hear and he wants to take his time and blah blah blah. Rhysand uttered the same exact words! sometimes I literally forget that Aelin isn’t Feyre!

Ok so I’m into this, but every once in awhile I feel a little over the dramatic descriptions. At first I was like hell ya! But then the more they happened the more I’m starting to roll my eyes. Like ok I get the damn picture. Reel it in a bit.

Also I’m over the constant use of the word lethal, & I’m not digging the immense possessiveness that every man seems to feel for Aelin. Like chill bro, chill.

So far so good. Keeping my expectations low tho

I’m so angry at Feyre! She just said there was a “part of Tam that was good” A PART! He did everything FOR YOU! He suffered for 50 years & you can’t even be patient with him for a few months & let him heal?!?! ALL YOU CAN SEE IS HOW HE ISNT SEEING WHAT YOU NEED?!? And disappear with his enemies?! You selfish BIATCH!

Everyone loves this book & I’ve been slogging through it in audio form. Has taken me over a month. It’s not as compelling as I expected, I wonder if I would have felt differently if I’d read it rather than listened to it. The person doing the voices is quite good so I don’t know what my problem is. @ around 3 quarters of the way in it’s finally stepped up in action & am finally starting to really enjoy it!

Honestly. So far this hasn’t been as great as I expected it to be. Still hoping that it gets better in the 2nd half

Holy info dump!

One of my most hatest tropes is when the bad guy/foil has this long villainous monologue explaining the details & steps of their evil plots. Do murderers and criminals ever actually do this? Give their victims a step by step detailed explanation of their crimes? Cheap lazy writing.

Does anyone else have the issue when listening to audiobooks that if the book is really good, you want to stop listening to it on audio & go get a physical copy and finish it that way??

Very very readable! I have a feeling I will fly thru this one in one or two more sittings.

The book is finally getting going, after taking two weeks to get thru 100 pages I’m now officially hooked. Oh, and Sigrud is my favorite!

The dog tried to save the boy. Then they killed the dog. I think that’s my cue to put the book down. @ 340 pages I’ve gone almost exactly half way. It pains me to DNF a book, but I’m not sure I can continue on with this one.
