Boring! What is with authors who write long sentences, with many clauses, and eschew commas for the word “and”? Quite disturbing how he waxes nostalgic about a kid being beaten so badly by his father that he has to crawl away on all fours, covered in blood. It is OK, same thing happened to the dad so it is all part of the romantic past.

I mistakenly thought this was a first-person account of flying in WWII.

Very dense with names with many events which makes it very hard to follow a train of thought. This seems to be focused on the political situations of the Catholic church and the reformed churches that eventually formed and their connections to secular rulers. It is hard to remember what I read two pages before whatever page I’m on.

Have to return the book.
