While I like the characters and I'm curious about Sian, I'm just not really getting into this book. There are moments that jump me out of the story because it doesn't feel like Star Wars, the characters deadpan way too often, and it can get over descriptive. It's getting one more chance before it's DNFed.

I love middle grade. While the story has some goofy, funny stuff going on, it doesn't go to the point of being dumb, and it has great world building and developing deeper character backgrounds. It also has some fun typographical stuff going on to represent sledding, unique sounds, etc. And it's full of illustrations. Why are there not more books like this?

This is fun so far. I miss reading middle grade.
