The prom is over and Luke's friends didn't enjoy it. Sarah has been visiting Luke for a while but she feels like he doesn't care that she's there. Luke thinks it's nice that Sarah visits him, he likes the stories that happened at school and how she imitates the guy that speaks on the intercom. Sarah sent Luke some articles of half blind sports players and he read them but he wondered who sent them to him.

Lots of people are still down that Luke is still in the hospital and they have heard that he has a high chance of loosing sight in his left eye. Luke finally went home, he tried watching tv but he didn't like what was on so he just slept. The school prom is close and Luke's friends feel bad that he isn't going to be there and they feel like it isn't right to go without him.

The doctors said Luke will be out of the hospital in a few more days. He's happy that he's about to get out but he said the days go by so slow. He said they go by faster when people come to visit him, and it's like he's stuck on a desert island and ships come every so often but they don't save him they just visit and then vanish into the sunrise.

Kyle, the pitcher for the other team that hit Luke, gave his jersey back to the coach and said he quit. The coach didn't like it and said he needed him to win the games, but Kyle didn't listen. Luke finally woke up and could see and talk a little but he was still hurt. The doctor told Luke's family that Luke was lucky he survived the first night and that he was going to be blind in one eye. They were really mad.

The whole school was quiet, nobody is talking and the teachers are scared that Luke has died. There were rumors going around that Luke was dead and everyone felt worse. Luke's English teacher about fainted when she heard the rumor. Luke kept waking up but he couldn't feel his face and he didn't know if he was dreaming or if he actually was awake.

Everyone is talking about Luke getting hit. Lots of people are in the waiting room of the hospital waiting to get info on how he is doing. Luke's grandparents drove three hours away to see him. Luke woke up and was wondering where he was and what was going on.

Luke was up to bat and the pitcher pitched it and it hit him in the head. Everyone yelled and rushed to see Luke laying there unconscious with blood all over him. The umpire yelled for someone to call an ambulance and to see if there was a doctor in the crowd. A doctor rushed to Luke with a first aid kit, he checked to see if he was breathing and told everyone to give him some room.

Kyle Dawkins might get drafted to a college team. He said he wanted to get a degree before he became a professional player. Luke got sick and wants to play in the game, if he misses school he can't participate in the game. So he tried to be quiet so nobody knew he was sick.

Two boys, Luke and Andy, play high school baseball together. They both have a dream, Luke had a dream about him and Andy being Co MVP's, and Andy dreamed about kissing a girl. Luke hasn't been doing to well in school so his teacher had a conference with his parents.

It was the last game of the season, if they win they'll come in second place. It was 33 to 32 the Blue Waves were winning. In the second half the Blue Waves pulled ahead but the Sabers weren't far behind. Coach tolled Glenn and Paul to go in and send Frog and Benjy out.

They had a game against the Gators. The Gators center was really good and people said he had a average of 19 points per game. The Gators started off hot and then they lost it in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, Paul was sent in, Jim passed the ball to Paul, Paul looked at the basket for a quarter of a second and shot. He made the shot and everyone yelled, Glenn was on the sideline screaming as well.

They had a game against the Jackrabbits. Glenn was open a couple of times but Don wouldn't pass it to him. Then finally Don passed it to him and he made a basket. Paul was in for two minutes in the third and fourth quarter. Paul traveled a couple of times and it cost the game. Coach said Paul needed to work on pivoting on one foot.

It was Christmas eve and their dad read a poem that he reads every Christmas eve. The next morning they went to church and then went home to eat breakfast and open presents. Glenn got books about the stars and the galaxy and Judy got clothes and Paul got a keyboard. Paul's mom was teaching Paul how to play the keyboard and he played Jingle Bells. Glenn really felt like Paul is going to play the keyboard really well.

Glenn heard rumors that Paul wasn't going to play anymore and he thought it was true. The next day they had a game and Paul went in for two minutes and covered his guy the whole time but caused a foul. Glenn was just happy he got to play. Two days before Christmas they had a game and Paul was in a little in the first and second half, he fouled two guys. Paul wasn't happy, Glenn and his dad cheered him up though.

Glenn and the coach talk about Paul learning how to play and that he was getting better. It was 47-49 the Blue Waves were winning, then Glenn seen the ball hit the net and everyone was under the goal waiting for the ball to drop, even Paul. Then it happened, Paul caught the ball then he shot it, but he shot it in the wrong goal. Paul was about to cry but he didn't and Glenn went in and got three points but they lost.

The coach put Paul in the game in the forth quarter. Glenn and the coach talk about Paul learning how to play and that he was getting better. It was 47-48 the Blue Waves were winning, then Glenn seen the ball hit the net and everyone was under the goal waiting for the ball to drop, even Paul. Then it happened, Paul caught the ball then he shot it, but he shot it in the wrong goal. Paul was about to cry but held up.

Paul and Glenn go to practice before the game and the coach had a blue box behind his back. He gave it to Paul and he got so exited and went to change as fast as he could. Paul played his first game but didn't do so well but he was happy and so was Glenn.

Glenn, Judy and Paul went inside and ate, then Paul went back out to shoot some hoops and Judy and Glenn stayed in to talk to their mom and dad. Glenn asked why Mrs. Myles didn't want Benjy to hang out with Paul. Judy said it was because she didn't want Benjy to end up like Paul. Their dad got angry and said that could never happen.

The Sabers have their first game and lose 49-48. Then they had another game against the Cowboys and won 48-41. Glenn and Paul practiced free throws and then Benjy joined, then Judy joined.

Glenn and Paul practiced and did warm ups with the team. After they warmed up they played a scrimmage. Three boys didn't agree with the coach on letting Paul join the team and they also talked bad about Paul. Paul didn't have a uniform and the coach ran out so Benjy offered to share his uniform with Paul.

Glenn was having second thoughts about training Paul and he told Judy that he might give up. She went off on him and told him that he was not going to give up. Glenn said they had about two and a half weeks to train. Their dad had helped them practice and play two on two with them. Glenn and Paul went to practice with the team and Glenn asked the coach if Paul could join the team. The coach said yes! Paul was happy.

A boy named Paul is little slow and his brother and sister decide to teach him how to play basketball. He dosen't have any friends, so his brother thought this would be his ticket to getting friends and showing people what he can actually do. Their mom seen them playing one day and asked how they were going to do it and they said, "with practice!"
