Ughhhhhh, I love and adore this writing team, but spare me the lazy writing tropes! We've got several chapters now of "if only they'd speak to each other, and it'd all get cleared up." This writing team is better than that.

You lost me at toe sucking by mid way through the book 🤮🤮

Re-read before the March release of book 3. I cannot express the gentle joy I get from reading these books. As terrifying as the world she's created is, the simplicity and purity of the protagonists and their world just draws me in. Anne is such a talented author.

It's a UF set in a Blade Runner future. I want tbe author to explain more (unusual for me).

Ugh, exposition dump is never fun. I would quit this book, but the world building is so clever I'm intrigued enough to continue.

Ugh.. I've taken a break from this one. How is one tepid storyline able to stretch across 4 books!?!?!? One of the WORST villains I've ever come across.

I'm enjoying the world building and the characters surrounding her are interesting. However, I'm reminded of Outlander and Claires constant rape attacks. This feels very heavy handed without easing up. Also Sam is constantly "wanting to go furry and have teeth to fight" yet never does? Like, stand up for yourself! You're a freaking werewolf!

I want to explore this new genre more. However, it's increasingly difficult to find quality works. I have standards and needs others may not want in their books such strong characters with feminist ideals, side characters that bring a balance and humour, good world building with the supernatural layered neatly and quick witted writing that captures the characters well. This book didn't do any of this, sadly. DNF.

What utter tripe. As soon as a female author refers to a woman's vagina as a "pussy" I get irritated, add on to that the fact she can't spit toothpaste in front of a guy cause he thinks it's "gross" (but kissing after going down is FINE) I'm out. I deal with enough patriarchal bs every day, don't need it in my books.. especially from female authors.

I'm remembering why I pulled away from this series.

Hmmm. We're meant to see this valiant young copper, working hard at wizadry....who sleeps with (enthusiastically) the (very recent) widow of one of the victims in his case as a heroic protagonist?
Kinda losing me here.

Rare that only a couple of chapters in I'm this excited about a book. Love the blend of decent crime drama with supernatural blended in.

I tried REALLY hard to like this book... but it was just blah.

I have never been tortured or watched others tortured and raped or had an evil bastard beat the shit out of you then masturbate over you... but I have to guess that if you had experienced any of these.. a guy randomly grabbing you and kissing you would not automatically mean you get all hot and bothered.

Stepped away from this to read the new Anne Bishop. Coming back to it is a struggle...

I swear to goddess, if she stops the building relationship between the two. I'll quit the series!

Ugh.... really struggling to enjoy this one. I loved the other two books, great characters and world building. This whole amnesia thing just feels like a cop out for the author. I forsee 2 stars. :(

So.... She's FBI and should be able to kick some ass and have a level head on her. Yet only a few chapters in she's almost raped... then abused by a guy who is clearly the love interest. Can we not move past the asshole trope!!!??? can't we have a nice, decent, respectful guy who makes her nipples swell 😑

This feels like an exact copy of the Wilds :(

I'm really struggling with this one. I enjoy this author's writing usually, but this book is so convoluted and lacks direction.

She saves herself! I love that the author is giving us a real heroine.

Fantastic writing, but the actual story is very dark and kind of hard to read. Pushing through though as a dear friend suggested it!
