So far, the portrayals of the characters’ innermost thoughts are so compulsively readable. I’m enjoying.

So far, it’s reminding me of “The Marriage Portrait” in ways, a book I loved.

Now the book takes a heartbreaking turn. I feel for Tess so much.

I’m trudging through this a second time. I didn’t like it in my teen years so wanted to give it another chance since I love Dickens.

But it is so hard to appreciate and connect to any of the characters. This feels so much more like a tightly plotted, weekly released tv episode with a goal of appealing to as many people as possible than a well thought out, deep Dickens novel.

Will finish it but good grief!

Boy is this book a little too long (but still very good)

Done with Day One of ten days. I’m lovingggg it so far; this series has defined my 20s. This book is doing for me what people felt when they watched Wicked (2024). It’s a resurgence into youth’s hopes, dreams, and memories. I can’t wait to finish this book. But I also don’t want to read it too fast. I want to devour every word and relish this experience.

It’s so fun and bizzare - kind of like being stuck in a fever dream when your alarm is trying to wake you up but you you can’t exit out of your mad rabbit hole 🕳️

The book is great. But I am not great at- this book is warring with my ADHD and its so hard to be focused. I will try harder bc I *know* Dostoyevsky is worth it.

I’m listening to the audiobook. I have never heard such disgusting yet lyrical words in my life.

Only a few pages in and its already incredible, challenging my assumptions and giving me fascinating histories.
