The thing I really love about this book is that it explains how the molecular structure of substances we interact with daily affect their qualities, from texture to taste, pain relief to toxicity. For people like me who didn’t study science past high school—HIGHLY RECOMMEND. In fact, in reading the section on artificial vs natural, I thought “everyone should read this.”

Having so many “oh that’s what that means” moments.

Hmm. This relsolutuon does not sit right with me. Nareh gives general apologies for “the night” being “a lot” despite the fact that she lied and threw Erebuni under the bus, while Erebuni apologizes for rightfully taking space, and then says she’s sorry for “not having faith” when, yeah, trust was broken, makes sense. Also immediately gets Nareh a job. Ummmm.

I’m enjoying this, don’t get me wrong, but I keep thinking about the TIMELINE and how she rejected the proposal from her boyfriend of 5 years mere weeks ago.

Dracula Daily here we gooooo! (I don’t know what page I’m on, but it is May 5th)

An audiobook actually caught my attention enough to turn away from podcasts for a moment! I’m racking up unfinished library audiobooks atm. Fun so far.

Maybe it’s too early to say, but this feels like it’ll be in the running for my favorite book of the year.

Usually I wouldn’t think to add an origami book to my goodreads, but I’ve actually fallen a bit in love with this, working my way through many of the unit designs in this book, curious to discover each new shape, folding several times a week. What a serendipitous library book sale purchase. It’s truly great.

I made it page 20 before I had to research the history of gay and lesbian bars in North Beach. And now back to the book.

I’ve listened to Sounds Like a Cult (Amanda Montell’s co-hosted podcast) so it’s throwing me off that the audiobook isn’t read by her but instead someone with a very measured audiobook voice.

Curious to see how much overlap there is with the podcast.

Simply the fact that chapter one is called “Welcome to Piedmont.” Also this Ariana Grande look alike named Arianna. And the Mean Girls scene. There’s a lot going on here. I’m excited about it.

This take on processing breakup grief and waiting to be ready to date someone is on a level unbelievable for high school and yet I love it.

I’m gonna go ahead and admit that this book just isn’t clicking for me.
