Two sentences I find hard to believe are true:

1) someone wrote a biography of Joey Bishop.
2) I am reading a biography of Joey Bishop.

It's hard to know how factual this book is, or to what extend Kent Russell is a reliable narrator, but 2/3 of the way through this book, I can say without fear of contradiction that Kent Russell is a giant asshole.

If he is a reliable narrator, then the portrait he paints of himself is that of a giant passive-aggressive asshole troll. And if he's unreliable, he's an asshole for being that.

I feel so sorry for me. (Sarcasm)

I've said before in these pages that I believe I've read nearly every book about the Apollo program. So of course, when a new book about the Apollo program comes out, I have to read it, right?

So why do I feel sorry for myself? Because I've read so many books about the Apollo program that sometimes I can spot the references a writer uses.

And I can spot the errors. Always

Fine, okay, I was the only American schoolkid who didn't read Huckleberry Finn. So I'm reading it now for the first time.

At the risk of sounding like Roger De Bris, I have to say this book is chock full of historical goodies; you know, I never knew Golda Meir lived in Milwaukee as a child!

It's taking me so long to read Kate Harding's "Asking for It" because I have to stop and put it down every so often and stare at the wall.

Neal Stephenson's first Young Adult novel. Ok, it really isn't YA, but it's certainly written at a lower grade level than his earlier books.

This book is lonnnnnng. But great. But lonnnnnnng. Still, worth it. But man, is it lonnnnnng.
