on a new short story here and it’s about musicians, told by a guy who makes clothing for them. cooder is doing a great job w dialect and language and you can really hear how each guy is talking, black and latino slang/spanglish interacting in conversation. nice

bought this book last month in zurich and started reading at a park. love the main guy, the way he conducts himself and acts around others reminds me of joe pera. seeing buena vista social club mentioned in his bio blurb on the back made me tear up because we watched a doc about them in high school spanish and i return to their self titled album often. anyway diving back into the book now after a few weeks off. :)!

i love how he wanders from a tossed out remark to an anecdote to another vaguely related tale. short stories are easy to digest and interesting to read. funny guy too!

picking this up again as i never quite finished when i started… big fan of Brammer’s advice column and writing style, loving this book. perfect pride month read, examining formative queerness and how that affects our identities and performance throughout our lives. and other stuff. funny and real

bought it off a $1 bookshelf the day i lost my wallet (was able to scrap a few singles to carry around in my pocket, a bit of rationed currency just in case) and love it so far. read a random page before deciding to purchase and immediately drawn to the way Birdsell writes. this is the kick i needed to get back into elective reading :)

interesting to see her work after (partly) reading her autobiography , seeing what effect the events of her life had on her art

i LOVE this book i LOVE anne sexton and can see so much of the friend who lent this book to me in her and a tiny sliver of my own soul in hers ... a thoroughly enjoyable read though it did not dawn on me how in love with this book i was until just now !

i'm spending most of the day in transit if i don't finish this on a plane or seat somewhere i won't be happy with myself

just recently read the fig tree metaphor which is half the reason i read the book n it isn't as grand as i had hyped it up to be. the book is very good i like it

definitely a page turner !!!! Suspenseful and good and the page I'm on right now wow what a way to start a chapter anyway I'm reading this book as I walk up and down the stairwell bc this Marriott has no gym

of the 7 short stories I've read, I've only really loved 2 of them. Another 2 are good. The rest were a struggle to get through, this book is extremely dense. Looking forward to the last story and also to being finished w this compilation
