I wish there was a dictator or some society imposed rule that would make us read awesome books like this and save attention deficit brain rotted morons like me from shitty podcasters and YouTube videos. I am struggling with this at the age of 45 even though I am enjoying the hell out of it because I watch too many shitty Youtube videos which cannot replace the joy of reading a novel as awesome as this.

Ray Elwood is as subversively entertaining as Mark Renton.

This is an American army base book. Something About a Soldier by Charles Willeford is another book like this one.

Off to a good start. I had watched the film starring Joaquin Phoenix and it was awesome.

A small book. Rich in characterization. The case gets solved rather abruptly.

This is so good. I need to read more Elmore Leonard.

..... but the end times they go on and on and on.

This is one brutal novel. Not easy to read. Going to be a while before I finish this one.

LA Confidential is giving me a real mental workout. This is not like The Black Dahlia at all. The prose syntax with its hyphens and semi-colons is damn tough. The first chapter with the shootout at the auto court is fantastic. James Ellroy has worked hard on this one.

Damn! I stopped reading this for Thomas Pynchon. Back on the exploits of the drug addled Philip Elliot.

It is not bad. But nowhere on the level of the other novels with Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie. Hope it improves.
