A little bit of a slow start, and the relationships between the characters is a bit rough, but it picks up fast.

So far I dislike the main character, dislike her mother-in-law even more, but I do like the way it's told from her perspective so far.

Slow to start, but the last one I read by this author was the same way before something happened. Lots of character introductions, relationships between characters, and describing the setting before progressing. Taking me a bit to get through and trouble keeping my attention, most books I read are a little more fast paced than this but I know the last one had a twist so I'll get through it eventually.
