The author clearly did a lot of research into the time period ... which gets kind of annoying sometimes as the characters debate the politics of the day. It's *possible* that these political discussions are foreshadowing some plot point, but, frankly I'm not reading this book to get various contemporary perspectives on Woodrow Wilson's presidency.

I'm having a really hard time with Emma. I feel like she's supposed to mean we'll, but she's coming across as this rather stuck-up brat who likes to feel important by meddling in other people's lives.

I'm done. I can't do this anymore. The characters are utterly flat, and the dialog is completely unrealistic. In the first dozen pages there have been so many clichés and worn out tropes I don't even want to read about the twelve perfect dates. This was an awesome premise, but the execution was terribly lacking. DNF

Reading about close encounters with the big cats at the game reserves in South Africa, all I could think of was that National Park Service meme, "Pspspspsps responsibly."
