Ok, this seems to be a modern-day and American take on Jane Eyre. Just don't expect the Rochesters or Jane to be anything like Bronte's.

Notes from what is probably my tenth re-read of "post mortem" by Patricia Cornwall. Only took 30 yrs, but I finally noticed some Benton errors. One where he gets John Gacey & Ed Kemper mixed up (isn't it sad I know this.) Two other times Wesley starts speaking the same way that Marino does, like she forgot who was talking. Still a great first novel, though all the conspiracies in later books got a bit monotonous.

The ebook version I'm reading claims to be 377 pages, possibly due to font size? I'm enjoying it but would probably like it better if I had played any computer games more complicated than Plants vs Zombies.

This book was more far-fetched than some of the science fiction I've read. Not up to McFadden's potential. It'll be a DNF.

Not just another self-help book

It's just another Freida McFadden book!

Don't think this will be my favorite Atkinson. Great premise - post WWI matriarchal crime family. But slow going.

Also shades of Ted Kazinski

So far it's reminding me of the Sixth Sense movie.

Thank heavens that a good author is tackling the subject of life during the Coronavirus. I haven't read any other books where it appears (though I'm still quarantining from the library) and the TV shows I see act like it was a brief and minor inconvenience. I appreciate receiving an advance copy of this book from Penguin Random House via Goodreads.

A year ago I would have said this book is terribly dated. And then came Ukraine.
