I'm loving the practical communication advice

Continuing my re-read of this book I didn't quite finish a few years ago. I'm increasingly convinced that IT is one of the best stories ever told. Incredibly immersive.

This book is written like a nature documentary and I love it.

So close to finishing and I can't wait for it to be over. Weir is a good scientist but a bad writer. Rocky is the only reason this book is possibly worth reading.

Another update just to say that I can see how this is perfect fodder for a movie

It's alright. The science is interesting but I don't think Weir is that great of a writer. This book is nearly all exposition and intellectual problem-solving so far.

The semi-real-time arc in this book called Flight or Fright is so compelling and tense I can only compare it to Daniel Kraus' superb underwater thriller Whalefall, which is the single most nerve-wracking book I've ever read

Best book in the series up to this point by a wide margin

This feels like EXACTLY the kind of book I've been looking for. Vibes of The Magicians combined with IT. Very excited to see where it goes.

It's fine. Took way too long to get going. I like the main character and it's written pretty well, but I'm kinda just waiting for it to end at this point.

No wonder I was so absorbed by this series when I was younger. This is a great spy thriller and it's hard to put down.

This book has SO MUCH setup. We don't get a chapter from Alex's POV until 30% through.

I've really enjoyed this. Dylan Marron is great at writing about empathy.

So far this has been an interesting account of purposeful empathy and has raised some interesting questions about how and why we may want to reach out to those who think they hate what we stand for
