This feels like EXACTLY the kind of book I've been looking for. Vibes of The Magicians combined with IT. Very excited to see where it goes.

It's fine. Took way too long to get going. I like the main character and it's written pretty well, but I'm kinda just waiting for it to end at this point.

No wonder I was so absorbed by this series when I was younger. This is a great spy thriller and it's hard to put down.

This book has SO MUCH setup. We don't get a chapter from Alex's POV until 30% through.

I've really enjoyed this. Dylan Marron is great at writing about empathy.

So far this has been an interesting account of purposeful empathy and has raised some interesting questions about how and why we may want to reach out to those who think they hate what we stand for

A welcome injection of hope into the saga after Iron Gold and Dark Age. This book is incredibly fast-paced and doesn't feel nearly as long as it actually is. I'm super excited about Red God next year.

Huge tone shift going from Dark Age to Light Bringer. This book doesn't continue the constant despair and hopelessness from the previous two entries, and instead feels much more like an epic adventure.

I've devoured this book once again. It's a long, dark ride but paced perfectly.

Excellent pacing, characterization, dialog, and writing in general. Pierce Brown balances several different storylines and does them all justice, from a large-scale hellish war of attrition for Mercury to contrasting accounts of nasty political intrigue on Luna and Mars. Similar to Iron Gold, I initially gave this book a 4 because I thought it was oppressively dark, but on the second read I have to give it a 5.

Still an incredible, dark entry in a great series

Yes, this is a re-read, but it's the first book in a WHILE for which I've had zero complaints about the writing. Pierce Brown, Christopher Buehlman, and Daniel Kraus are the only modern genre fiction authors I can trust.

Continuing my Red Rising saga re-read. I think I took for granted how well these books are written the first time I read them, and now I'm trying to escape a rut of mediocre books.

Decent ideas, decent world, decent writing, decent twist. There's not a lot that actually happens though and I wish it was either a shorter book or faster paced with more going on.

This book is excellent so far and has a captivating set of main characters.

Finding myself getting bored 🫤 Might drop this soon. I wish the writing was making me care more about what's going on.
