2: Let's whip a few of my lazy servants!
3: I shall encourage the peasants to kill a thieving noble and his family!
4: Bully and threaten everyone into submission!
5: Keep insulting the girl whose body I'm occupying.

I am mesmerized...

0_0 The MC is going to have a heart attack just because she can't stand waking up in a fat body in a fantasy world? As a skinny 50 kg person this still doesn't make any sense to me... First, her new body was pregnant and just lost the baby. Second, the person it belonged to previously was in a toxic relationship. Third: genetics. Fourth: she is just slightly fatter than before? Five: Who cares?

About to start book 3 out of 5. So far it's ok, but it feels more and more like a generic YA with all the tropes you can expect (for better or worse).

Arghhhh! Come on! Can't people be... dead-dead?!?
So what happens if you get killed in the life-after-first-death?

The third MC is also a horrible human being. If it wasn't for the creative world-building and engaging writing style, I would've DNF-ed already...

Kick a cat to death, hit a child and then kill an old woman for trying to defend the child?!? That's one of the MCs?!?!?!
And the other looks for excuses to kill everyone, including teenagers? Wha... Why?! What... I thought I'll be rooting for the protagonists by now, not wishing them DEAD?
Their body count of innocent civillians must be higher than the villains'!

....Did you HAVE TO kick the little cat passing by and smash its skull? Just because you are angry someone ran away from a fight with you?
I hope they all die...

LOVE the world-building! Love the "magic"-system! Still finding it hard to care about anyone. I am half-way through and having one of the main characters kill teenage boys (because, you see, she-just-crazy, hihi), when she could've avoided it, is... I don't like it when innocent children are being hurt for the sake of an MC's convenience (personal pet-peeve). Overall, it's a very brutal world and no one is a saint.

I am BLOWN AWAY! 🤯 Mental illnesses manifesting as superpowers in a medieval gritty world? The sane navigating a reality shaped by the delusional? My brain is salivating!
And it's very well written on top? What?!? Why am I in love already?❤️
The characters are rather unlikeable (on purpose) for now, so let's see where it goes.

About to start "Book 3" out of 5. Too soon to say probably, but this is turning out to be one of my favourite YA fantasy/romantasy series of all time!

So goooood! NOW I understand the hype.
Not sure if it's 5 stars yet, it will depend on the ending. But oh boy, there is SO MUCH going on! Definitely didn't expect the story to take this particular direction.

The Angel being both hauntingly beautiful and eerily unsettling is perfect! I am so glad it's non-verbal so far. Everything feels ... wrong, in the best way possible.

Barely anything happens. A lot is thought. I suffer. But I like biblically accurate angels in fiction so I endure. 26% - angel finally appears.

I have the same issue as Whalefall (by the same author) - a ridiculous amount of unnecessary reminiscing written in a flowery prose. When someone avoids getting to the point REPEATEDLY we say: he is stretching out the Turkish delights.

Audiobook Narrator = Perfection!

Holly sh*t! Now that's PURE horror!

I don't want to jinx it, but so far... absolutely brilliant! No break at all! It feels like I am reading the content for 3 books but without any pointless fillers. Just pure psychological and paranormal horror. I was so terrified at one point that I even considered abandoning the book ... which is a FIRST for me!

Nah...children being killed and eaten... I am done.

*yawn*... We get it - the locals are feeding tourists to the monster. Too much information and POVs ... Such a good start, middle is quite slow and disappointing though. I really wish there was more mystery surrounding the monster and the town...

Oh... so the locals know about the monster and they even communicate with it... ok, creepiness level decreased.

Jesus Christ! Give me a break, book! I am still dealing with the first gruesome death! Ok, note to self - don't get attached to any of the characters. ... Noooo, not the doggy too!

0___0 ... Ok, I'm sold! Keep going book! 15 minutes in and I am already breaking a sweat.

So far not great. I don't know whose fault it is - the audiobook narrator or the writing style, but the sentences are rather ... choppy? They don't flow. The worldbuilding doesn't make sense at all (historians are "banned"? Why not just make them twist facts and record propaganda?). Characters are rather flat: we just met Roy's partner and he is a tsundere.

Everyone is going to die...Horribly... Eaten by mermaids... Lovely...

"God, when is this going to be over?!?" -are my thoughts since the beginning of the book. But is it because I know people (probably everyone) will be eaten by mermaids by the end and I am just anticipating the gore and horror? Or is it because the pacing is super sloooooow. 17 hours audiobook...

ARGH! A love-hate relationship with this book! Definitely leaning towards the 5 star rating for me, but I want to list some of the issues I have here, before I forget them. 1. Jean is not pronounced Jen (audiobook). 2. Too anti-french/anti-Christian/anti-God etc. (excessive mocking) 3. Fast start, slow pacing afterwards (3 POVs). 4. Immortal protagonist lusting over 19 year olds. All the praise will be in the review.

Torturing and SA-ing a character, who is barely an adult... I did NOT expect that... I will try to finish the book, but ... I am not fine with this... There should be trigger warnings.

Oh wow! Someone kidnapped Alec and Seregil is mad!

Not even 10% in, and I am absolutely loving this! It reminds me of Mass Effect, with humans in the future coexisting with different species, being part of alliances and military personnel dealing with all kinds of political drama.

I like the characters, but the pacing is soooo slooooow... and the story so far is "meh". David and Rhys's quarrel is becoming repetitive and predictable. I really want to finish this, because the idea of two rival magicians trying to work together when one of them starts getting posessed by a demon, is interesting. But ... why is everything dragging...

A lovely cosy mystery set in Egypt. It reminds me of Indiana Jones and The Mummy - great characters and excellent pacing.
