This is one disturbing book. I started it thinking it would be some sort of family/domestic drama. Now I feel like I'm in some dystopian/science fiction novel. The more I read, the angrier I get. I am now just waiting for this story to redeem itself.

Only on chapter 3 and this book has already made me laugh numerous times!

OMG, I cannot even try to feel sorry for this woman. She is a bonafide idiot

I have just started this book and already I can't stand Carl, or Natalie for that matter. What in the world compelled her to marry this horrible @sshole of a man?? She comes off as an idiot who seems to feel lucky to have landed a man at all. I just want to punch Carl and give Natalie a good shaking to get some sense into her. He just keeps gaslighting her and she allows it!

Just got done with Chapter 4, learned a lot about Amy's past, still trying to really get into the book. One trivial thing that I can't let go of, why does Charlotte get to pick all the book club reads? What a crap book club! So glad we vote on the next read in mine!

I'm already so confused with the prologue. On Sept 13, Sam says it's the day before his sister disappeared. Which means she should have disappeared Sept 14th. But then it's Sept 15th and Erin is telling us it is Saturday morning and Brenna has gone to get her driver's license with Cole. Then it's Sept 15 again, but now Cole is saying it's Sunday morning and he has a conference call, and Erin now can't find Brenna.

This book is breaking my heart the more I read it, and knowing it is based on true events just makes it all the more heartbreaking. 😭 I know I probably haven't even gotten to the worst!

So far I'm really enjoying this book, this part brought tears to my eyes. Nothing can compare to a mother's love! I was happy and sad for Naoko at this moment

I'm really enjoying this book so far, I really hope the end is as satisfying as the story has been!

It's so hard, as a mother, to read about children suffering, but it's a million times worse when the children in the story could easily be yours, right down to the ages and genders. Ughhh

Ok, this book has gotten good, I am thoroughly invested now!

Chapter 11, page 73 and I am still not invested in any of the characters, although Lily has become just slightly more interesting. I need the book to really grab my attention soon.

Continued : "how old are they now at this point", "did this part happen yet, or is this after that event?" It makes reading a bit tedious because you're constantly trying to figure out where in time you are. And are we ever going to get to know Huda?? I am so curious about her thoughts and what she is going through/feeling.

So far the book is interesting but I'm not invested in any of the characters yet. Also, the way it's written is a bit off putting to me, most of the book so far take place in the past, but in the middle of the past, you are randomly taken even further past, memories within memories and it's hard to remember where you are at any given moment. I spend parts wondering " was this before or after so and so?",

I could barely read the last page of chapter 62 through the tears in my eyes!

Sorry, I had to pause here and comment on this. Page 102, she gave him a CUP of FENUGREEK seeds as an after dinner TREAT?!?!?! Fenugreek is bitter! A whole cup of it???? I will assume the author meant FENNEL seeds which are eaten after indian meals( and are pretty much at every indian restaurant). Fennel actually helps with digestion and taste good!

So far this has been an easy read, the chapters are fairly short so it seems to move quickly. However, the synopsis from the book jacket/description is a bit different from what I have read so far. Adrian, the dead 3rd wife, the happy relationship with the exes and kids is all the same, but the mystery, so far, is different. I'm eager to see how it all falls together.

There is Adrian, the dead wife, happy ex wives, etc. However there is a totally different mystery going on, I'm eager to see how it all falls together

Pages 121 to 191 were the best parts of the book I've read so far. So proud of Perveen's immediate response to what happened. Wish more women were that strong willed.

Ugh, this book is dragging for me. I have never been a big fan of detective type books and this one just seems so slow. The murder just happened and I still find myself searching for a review that will just tell me what happens rather than finish reading. I will finish though, more because I want to know more about Perveen's past, so far, I could care less about the widows' story.

If everyone had a daddy like Big Roy, I think the world, overall, would be better, or at least more bearable.
I know, now, how I think the book should end, but we will see if I'm right.
