Page 94 of the large print edition and still not feeling the love. Pen, a cop trainee, lets a killer go free because she hated the victim and feels an affinity with the murderer. Really? Pen’s twin sister Nix killed herself and her brother Gand is a new age flake who keeps disappearing, leaving his daughter, Shadow, with Pen and her parents. I kept thinking Shadow was the dog.

Not finding this compelling. Don’t really care for government conspiracy / spies stories.

I’m on page 52 of the large print edition. The first chapter was boring. The second one contained some graphic details I could’ve done without. There already has been sprinklings of current politics, which makes for terrible fiction. So, after reading some of the 2 and 3 star reviews, I’m canning this.

Too political. Anti ICE pro illegal alien. If you’re for borders you’re a nazi racist.

Too hard to follow all the Japanese names. Can’t tell if a word is a man, woman, city, street, or any other noun.

Too complicated. Clearly a series because a lot of references to previous cases. Maybe read in order would be better.

Woke, feminist, men are bad. A town where everyone goes to church on Sunday. The horror! A school that emphasizes discipline and academics. Oh no! As soon as I read the dedications, I feared it would be exactly what it is turning out to be. No thanks.

This is so boring. Three sisters, all financial idiots, get involved in a Ponzi scheme.

Not enjoying this. The author’s writing style gets in the way of the story. Sometimes I don’t know what he’s trying to say or who is talking.

I’m just not enjoying this.

Only the very beginning that takes place during China’s cultural revolution is interesting. Characters and plot seem to be mere afterthoughts. Lots of talk about physics. Too much time spent on a virtual reality game. Hard to keep track of who is who. Even the characters don’t know if someone is male or female based on their Chinese name, so there’s no hope for an English speaker. It has been a slog to read.

This is so boring and the writing so stilted and overly complicated, I’m not going to finish it.

Jane is a self described sociopath who is constantly restraining herself from hurting or killing everyone around her, often for the most trivial of reasons. Yet we are to believe she has stayed married to someone whom she doesn’t like and who disrespects her. Jane’s repetitive bursts are boring. Not going to finish

Not enjoying this. Wes and Ivy are both juvenile and not likeable

First, get this in book form. On Kindle you can’t read the map and there are footnotes to deal with. Next, there are unpronounceable “rabbit” words throughout that would make it difficult to read aloud. Each chapter begins with quotes (without context) from other books. I didn’t see the relevance to the story. But most annoying was one that was entirely in French and not translated.
