I am shook by how well this 40+ year old sci fi novel predicted how the modern world would react to a pandemic. Struggled a great deal to get into this one, but ever since the parallels to our shared COVID-19 nightmare started hitting I've been unable to put it down. Dismissals of the scientific process? Check. Disregard for other people's health? Check. Racially charged attacks against a community? Check. Wow.

Tough read. Now I understand the joke that this was the second most popular book that was purchased by never read (the Bible being the first). Hawking is not a 'popular science' communicator like Neal DeGrasse Tyson or Carl Sagan. Though he tries to say otherwise, this is book by a scientist for science nerds who already have a strong basis in the vocabulary and Physics concepts. May not finish...
