Scot Parker is on page 385 of 448 of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals
Caption under a picture that clearly shows 5 digits, each with a claw: "The four claws on each of Borhyaena's feet made it a formidable predator."

And on this page, apparently 3,000kg = 1,587lb... I had no idea Earth's gravity was so much weaker during the Cretaceous...

The worst yet is on p335; the Saltasaurus' weight is given as "6-350kg (7 tons)" ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Finally picked this up again after a year and a half. I care deeply about the subject, I swear!

It's a good book but could have used a better editing. For instance, 1000 kg is not less than 2000 lb (in the same gravity, at least.) Also - "The projecting snout of Tylosaurus may have been used as a ram to stun prey or in combat with others of its kind, but was probably actually too fragile and sensitive for this purpose"

Hmmm...it was probably used to ram but actually was too sensitive to ram... 🤔

More about the sexual preferences and appetites of human-sandworm hybrids. I can see why the prevalent opinion is that the Dune series took a sharp turn downhill...

Have you ever wondered about the sexual characteristics and habits of a several-thousand-year-old human-sandworm hybrid that is several meters long and weighs several tons? Well, I had not wondered about that, but now it's in my head.

Scot Parker is on page 334 of 932 of The Sum of All Fears (Jack Ryan, #6)
This is cruising hard for 1 star.

I grew up loving Tom Clancy's novels, in my household this was unavoidable, but as an adult who has gained a modicum of empathy for others and...how to put it...aversion to racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry, I find myself repeatedly disappointed by his novels as I reread them. This is the worst so far.

Whew, I was scared there for a minute that the plot was going to advance! My concern was unwarranted, however.

At this point it's sheer stubbornness getting me through this. Every time I turn the page I have a fleeting hope that the plot might advance a micron, but no, instead another poorly described Eldritch horror appears. The latest? Radiation. Exuded by a living creature. For zero goddamn reason.
