Author has a strange definition of a 'good man' when describing Adrien, Marcel's piece of shit father. He:

-Atheist 'Catholic'
-Marries outside the Faith (to a Jew no less)
-Cheats on his wife
-Bad father. No time for sons.
-Sends Marcel to a brothel
-Unconcerned about sons growing and rampant perversion
- Endangers his life when new wife is heavily pregnant
