If I ever was asked to criticize SJM’s work, it would be that things are a little *too* convenient. It gets corny and unrealistic.

I will say it again: this whole subplot with Lidia having sons is so annoying. It completely ruined the hype of her character and everything that was built in HOSAB. I really don’t see the point of it other than to create more unnecessary drama and plot filler. I honestly think SJM just loves to write about being a mother and having kids bc she is a mother with kids. But as someone who doesn’t have any, idgaf!

What the actual fuck, Tharion. You had ONE JOB. One fucking job. What a damn waste of antidotes. How the hell is this dude even a character we’re supposed to root for 😑

If we really think about it, it makes a lotta sense that Theia’s mate is a demon prince of Hel lol. But Aidas seems like more of a good person than she was.

But for like the entire fucking series, he’s been doubting her too even when she says over and over again that she needs him by her side. Bro doesn’t deserve her and could NEVER handle her. Idk wth SJM was thinking pairing them as endgame.

Okay I’ll give SJM her props on this one. I’m amazed by how she managed to tie everything together—the Mask, the mech suits, the Fallen’s cut wings that the Asteri kept all this time, the resurrection of the Harpy and talk of necromancy subplot. It all makes fucking sense now when it used to feel so random before. But dammit, SJM is a writing genius!

He always gotta be all “boohoo not poor me, I don’t deserve it, everything is my fault.” LIKE PLEASE JUST GET OVER YOURSELF ALREADY. Also, I don’t get why SJM is making him Prime. It doesn’t fit his character. He’s too weak-minded honestly.

I actually hate Ithan more than I hated Chaol. Like dude was a total jackass to Bryce in the first book and now that Jesiba’s calling him out on it, he’s like “it was a rough time” like no bitch u don’t get to act like it wasn’t totally ur choice to ice her out and let ur pack terrorize her when she needed u the most. And u let it happen just bc u didn’t like what she did in those last few hours? GTFO.

Telling Ithan and Hypaxia to go back to Lunathion or anywhere near the Eternal City seems like a bad fucking idea.

Ngl this part is so corny but so so wholesome and pure. I especially teared up when Bryce and Ruhn hug each other, knowing their abusive father is finally out of their lives.

Bryce being partly inspired by Starfire from Teen Titans makes SO much sense wtf

SJM definitely needs to flesh out stuff more. I think the story is interesting, but there are moments when she’ll start “skipping” time and will tell instead of show the reader what the characters are doing. So I’m thinking she either ran out of time to expand more on these scenes or maybe was not able to write more because of her page limit. Honestly, Bloomsbury should just let her write up to 2000 pages!
